Welcome to the Great Orme Family Golf Course, on the Great Orme in Llandudno. There has been a 9 Hole Pitch & Putt Course in the upper part of Haulfre Gardens for many years and it has always been a popular attraction for visitors and residents alike.

We are the only full sized Pitch & Putt Course in North Wales!

What Is Pitch & Putt?

Quite often, people aren't totally sure what Pitch & Putt actually is. Basically, it's a simplified version of the traditional golf game, ideal for families or learners, as well as more experienced golfers. The Course is 9 holes long, but the holes are shorter than on a traditional golf course and generally, only two clubs are used - an Iron to 'pitch' the ball from the Tee onto the Green and a Putter to then 'putt' the ball into the hole.

About The Course

Set on the lower slopes of the Great Orme, the course gives you not only the opportunity to play an excellent round of golf but also to take in the magnificent views over Llandudno. A round of golf and a breath of fresh air, but only 5 minutes walk from central Llandudno.

The course has nine holes, with varying levels of difficulty, in an attractive, peaceful setting. The full size greens are a bonus for those wanting to hone their putting talents.

You don't need to bring your own clubs, hire is included in the price. Of course, if you'd rather bring along a favourite putter, you're very welcome to do so.

Opening Times

For the 2011 season, the Course will be open daily (weather permitting) from 10am till Dusk, from April through to the end of October. If the weather's a bit uncertain, please give Mike a ring on 07990 517 020 first to see if the course is open or not.

Fancy An Evening Round Of Golf?

Now that the lighter evenings have arrived, we intend to develop the course at the end of the day. We will remain open until close at dusk. This is a new idea for this course and, to avoid any possible disappointment, we would suggest that if we have been unable to open during the day because of very bad weather, give us a ring on 07990 517 020 so that we can be there to welcome you in the evening.

Also, its a new idea, so here is a new price. Two adults and all your children, play as long as you like for £10 in the Evening - all of you.

How To Find The Course

By Car: From central Llandudno, take Ty Gwyn Road (next to Empire Hotel) up the Great Orme. At the traffic lights, go across into Llwynon Road (not up by the Tram tracks) and carry on for about 500 metres until you see the entrance way to the Course on your left. Parking is available along Llwynon Road but please do not block access to residents houses.

On Foot: There are several ways to access the Course on foot. In fact, one of the main access paths onto the Great Orme passes alongside the Course. The quickest way from town is to walk up into Haulfre Gardens and take the path that starts to the right of the Public Toilets, heading upwards through the woodland section of the Gardens. Keep heading right until you come to a wooden gate, pass through it and you will see the course to your left. Take the path that runs alongside the right of the course and you will come to the Pay Hut.

By Bus: The Number 73 Service runs right past the Golf Course entrance on Llwynon Road every hour and there is a Bus Stop just outside. Get on the bus at Stop B in the Town Centre (outside Nigel Roberts Newsagents in Gloddaeth Street). Full Timetable for the Service can be found here:

By Tram: The Great Orme Tramway provides a unique way to reach the course. From the lower Victoria Station in Church Walks, just purchase a ticket to Halfway Station and, from there, it is just a couple of minutes walk down to the Course on Llwynon Road. As you cross the cattle grid and walk back down the steepest part of the road, you'll see the golf course situated behind the houses in front of you. "This 9 hole Pitch & Putt course can be a little tricky to find but is worth the effort - the views are fantastic. It's on Llwynon Road, which is one of the turnoffs at the traffic lights on the road that goes up the Orme alongside the Tram tracks (take a look at the map to see what I mean). The entrance is down a little track between two houses but there is also a footpath leading up to it from Haulfre gardens.
